The Appalachian Trail Museum prepares for opening of children’s museum

The Appalachian Trail Museum located in the Old Mill at Pine Grove Furnace State Park opened in 2010 with exhibits on the history of the Appalachian Trail – its founders and early pioneer hikers. On June 4, 2016 we will open the basement level of the building as our children’s museum.

The basement level will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 AM (Guest speakers: Ashley Kurtz of the Cumberland Valley Visitor Bureau, major funder of the project, and Jennifer Chambers, author of children’s books and president of the American Hiking Society.) A Children’s Festival will be held on the grounds of the museum from 11 AM to 2 PM with storytelling, games, music and food – including ‘made-to-order’ Trail Mix.
