(WHTM) — A State Senate Committee passed a bill that will help empty Pennsylvania’s treasury vault of unclaimed property.

The bill would automatically return unclaimed property to rightful owners.

One in ten Pennsylvania residents have unclaimed property waiting for them, but many don’t know that or don’t bother to fill out the paperwork.

The bill, authored by Dauphin County state Senator John DiSanto, now advances to the full Senate.
