Ashes to Go event held at Capitol

Top Video

Catholics and many Christians headed to church for Ash Wednesday services.

Some stopped by the state Capitol to mark the start of Lent.

Ministers offered ashes and prayers in the main Rotunda to anyone on the go.

Ashes are placed on the forehead, reminding the faithful of their own mortality, 40 days before Easter Sunday and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
