Vehicle fire causes shutdown of I-83 southbound in York County, now reopened


YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — PennDOT is reporting a vehicle fire on I-83 southbound in York County between Exit 14: PA 182 – Leader Heights and Exit 10: PA 214 – Loganville.

All lanes were closed for several hours. As of 7:43 a.m., the left lane is now open. The roads reopened around 9:00 a.m.

PennDOT’s Fritzi Schreffler says a tractor-trailer hauling honey mustard pallets caught fire around 5:30 a.m. She says the driver is okay but the tractor-trailer is completely destroyed.

She also says there was a small brush fire as a result, but it’s been extinguished.
