Overweight bus causes Arkansas wooden bridge to sag

BEAVER, Ark. (WHTM) – It was an accident waiting to happen.

Fortunately, it didn’t.

A tour bus was caught on camera as it crossed the Beaver Bridge in Beaver, Arkansas, causing the wooden bridge to sag dramatically.

The bridge known as the Golden Gate of the Ozarks has a weight limit of 10 tons. The bus weighed 35 tons.

The driver apparently ignored dozens of weight limit signs.

Inspectors say the bridge is fine, but residents worry the next bus or truck that breaks the law will crash through.
