NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WHTM) – The Philadelphia Flyers had 10 draft picks entering the 2023 NHL Draft on Wednesday night, two of which were in the first round.

Their highest draft pick was 7th overall, followed by 22nd overall from the Ivan Provorov trade.

The Flyers finished 31-38 overall in the 2022-23 season, finishing seventh in the Metropolitan Division and missing the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Free agency begins July 1 and new General Manager Danny Briere is focusing on rebuilding the team.

The Flyers are in a fire sale ahead of the 2023-24 season, trying to find something that will work for the team. The June transactions included acquiring Helge Grans, goalie Calvin Peterson and defenseman Sean Walker for Provorov and Hayden Hodgson. On June 24, the organization extended defenseman Louie Belpedio’s contract for two years.
