Northern York, Bishop McDevitt Swimmers take home gold

Bishop McDevitt finished 3rd in the Class 2A Boys team standings at the PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships. Schuylkill Valley finished 3rd in PIAA Class 2A Girls Swimming Championships team standings. Northern York was tied for 9th.

Bishop McDevitt wins the PIAA Class 2A Boys 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:08.89. Patrick Hemingway, Zack Miller, Jonah Hancock and Josiah Lauver comprise that state championship team. 

Northern York’s Kate Luft wins girls 100 backstroke with time of 54.45. Marlee Rickert of Schuylkill Valley comes in 3rd; Sophia Guyer of York Suburban comes in 6th.

In girls 100 freestyle, Wyomissing’s Hannah Hurleman took 6th.

In girls 100 breaststroke, Jessie McMurray of York Catholic came in 3rd with time of 1:03.29. Shippensburg’s Julia Strine tied for 4th with time of 1:03.67. West York’s Meaghan Harnish finished 7th with 1:05.08. Donegal’s Jordynn Park finished 8th clocking in at 1:05.40.

In girls 400 free relay,  Schuylkill Valley took 3rd with time of 3:33.05 from Megan Ehrnfeldt, Emily Van Der Sleen, Emily Griesemer, Marlee Rickert.

In girls 500 free, West York’s Meghan French finishes 2nd and Schuylkill Valley’s Megan Ehrnfeldt finishes 5th.

In boys 100 freestyle Bishop McDevitt’s Josiah Lauver took 2nd, just touched out by champion Ian Shahan of Belle Vernon.

In boys 100 backstroke, Susquehanna Township’s Justin Pitassi took 8th.

In boys 100 breaststroke Cocalico’s Zachary Sherk came in 3rd with time of 57.76.

In boys 1-meter diving,  Boiling Springs divers Jack Still and Jordan Morret finished 4th and 6th respectively. Still posted a score of 419.30, Morret 394.00.
