Phillies Satana promises homerun to local Leukemia patient

First baseman goes yard after a promise in batting practice

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Phillies first baseman Carlos Santana promised Leukemia patient  and Harrisburg native Anthony Garcia that he would hit a homerun in his honor.

The Phillies invited the 13-year-old to a game, gave him a bat and a custom jersey, but more importantly, a chance to meet the players who inspire him to keep fighting. Garcia's favorite player is Santana; they play the same position and even share the same birthday.

In the 5th inning of Saturday's game, Santana hit one into the upper decks, with his biggest fan watching in the stands.
