Because the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General is an independent state agency we offer a wide range of positions. In addition to our more well-known positions such as our Deputy Attorney General and Criminal Agent (Special and Narcotics) positions, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General offers various administrative, clerical and operational support positions within the office. Some of note are:
Clerk Typist:
An employee in this position performs clerical work, which requires the utilization of typing skills and the processing of a variety of documents including the verification of information, performing arithmetic calculations, coding, and assisting the public in completing governmental forms. The position involves typing correspondence, reports, transaction, and transmittals, and similar documents as part of the clerical documents processing of an office or functional activity. Work involves the responsibility for a significant aspect of a work process, an involved single office activity which is production or control oriented, or other multiple activities which are comparable in scope and complexity. Work may involve providing secretarial services to one or more individuals. Work may involve providing training and guidance to new employees and fulfilling a lead worker role for routine clerical operations. Work is subject to periodic changes in operating procedures and requires some adaptability to shifts in work schedule. Employees work with considerable independence within standard operating procedures, however, detailed supervisory guidance and review is received for new or unusual situations and changes in operating procedures and policies.
Accountant:
An employee in this position will have the primary responsibility of all related payroll activities that must be completed at an Agency level. The central payroll functions for the Office of Attorney General are performed by the PA Office of the Budget’s Bureau of Commonwealth Payroll Operations. Apart from payroll duties, the employee will also provide assistance in the Accounting Controls area of the Comptroller Section and perform other general accounting functions. Supervision may be exercised over a small professional, technical, or clerical staff. Work is performed within general policies and procedures and is subject to review by a professional superior.
IT Applications Developer:
This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of custom software applications and the modification, integration, and support of commercial software. The Applications Developer will work closely with other developers, database administrators, members of the IT Infrastructure Unit, and end users. They will be responsible for tasks ranging across the full development process and product life cycle including meeting with users to analyze processes, designing solutions, gathering feedback throughout the design process, implementation of business solutions, working with end users to ensure the solution meets their needs and expectations, and, when necessary, system maintenance and upkeep. The day to day demands of this position include working both individually and as part of a team on developing and supporting over 50 applications for the Office of Attorney General (OAG). Travel in this position is rare but occasionally may be required to travel to other regional offices across the Commonwealth (generally expected to be no more than a few days a year).
