THIS EVENING: Warm And Very Humid. Temp In The 70s.

OVERNIGHT: Muggy, Passing Downpour. Lo 76.

THURSDAY: Hot & Humid, Late Evening T-Storms. Hi 98.

Numerous showers and storms are moving through the Mid-state as of early this evening. While localized damaging winds are possible, the main concern will be slow-moving downpours that could lead to localized flooding. Storms should wane from west to east as we approach sunset, with just a stray shower possible overnight.

The heat will maximize Thursday with highs potentially approaching 100 degrees. Heat indices could reach as high was 110, hence why an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect. Storms are possible late in the day as a disturbance approaches from the north, but it appears areas northwest of Harrisburg will have the greatest chance for a storm. While storm coverage doesn’t look as widespread as today, any storm is capable of producing strong wind gusts.

A cold front will approach Central PA on Friday, offering another good chance for showers and storms. Friday will also be the last brutally hot day (highs in the upper 90s again!) with more comfortable air moving in for the weekend. Saturday will still be hot with some stray t-storms as the front lingers nearby. Highs Sunday will be in the 80s with much less humidity and lots of sunshine! Most of early next week looks quiet with highs near seasonable levels. The one caveat: Tropical Storm Fred. This storm will move toward the Gulf Coast early next week and could move northward by Tuesday. There is still a lot of uncertainty due to Fred for next week, so check back and we’ll keep you posted.
