HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — It feels like we turned the corner, and fall weather is not far away. The start of the week featured soaking rain, the first since June for our area. Temperatures are also cooler during the day.
Temperatures will be more seasonable this week with another chance for more rain early next week. This may seem like the hot and dry weather is behind us, but our weather team expects a late summer comeback toward mid-September.

The big bubble of heat has temporarily shifted west over the Rockies and Midwest. This bubble will move east to bring unseasonably warm and dry conditions. More days with highs in the 80s and there’s still a chance we could see some 90-degree days. Despite the recent rain, we also believe the rest of this month will feature near or below normal rain.
The tropics are starting to become active, but still remains sluggish heading into the peak of tropical season. Most activity remains to stay in the Atlantic Ocean, which limits much activity along the east coast through the middle of September.
